Jurgen Klopp’s agent responds to the former Liverpool manager’s claims that he has a new job in football

Speculation that Jurgen Klopp could reconsider his break from football and join Red Bull as their new head of football has been quickly rubbished by his agent Marc Kosicke.

After nine seasons, nine trophies and an emotional farewell to the Premier League at the end of the season, Klopp is yet to release details of his plans beyond Liverpool. Apart from saying he would take a year off and never manage another Premier League team, football fans have been kept in the dark about what lies ahead for the legendary manager.

Reports have circulated that Red Bull are eyeing Klopp to oversee their football operations, a role left unfilled since Oliver Mintzlaff resigned years ago, according to Salzburger Nachrichten. Red Bull are hoping to lure Klopp to boost their clubs appeal to top transfer prospects.

However, Kosicke completely put to rest all speculation about his client’s next move. Klopp’s agent told Sky Germany of an immediate move to Red Bull: “(It’s) total nonsense. There’s nothing in it.”

Klopp has close ties to Germany, home to Red Bull’s most successful team, RB Leipzig, having managed Mainz 05 from 2001 to 2008 and Borussia Dortmund from 2008 to 2015. At Mainz, Klopp led the to their first promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2003–04 season and helped the club qualify for the UEFA Cup in the 2005–06 season.

At Dortmund, Klopp cemented his reputation as an elite manager by winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010-11 and 2011-12. He secured a national double in the 2011–12 season by winning the DFB-Pokal and reached the UEFA Champions League final in the 2012–13 season, where his side lost to Bayern Munich. Klopp also won the DFL Supercup in both 2013 and 2014. His German honors include being named German Football Manager of the Year in 2011, 2012 and 2019.

Jurgen Klopp managed Liverpool for nine seasons

When asked about his future as a manager, Klopp said: “If you ask me: ‘Will you ever work as a manager again?’, I would say no. But I don’t know how it will feel, because I’ve never had the situation. What I know for sure, I will never, ever manage another club in England other than Liverpool, 100 per cent,” he said.
