The former Coventry City, Shrewsbury Town, Newport County AFC and Northampton Town defender is being linked with a move to Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town have been linked with a move for left-back Ryan Haynes, who was released by Northampton Town at the end of last season.

The 28-year-old played under new Robins boss Michael Flynn during a three-year spell at Newport County AFC.

Haynes started in the youth team at Coventry City and progressed to the Sky Blues first team.

He spent time on loan at Cambridge United and made a permanent move to Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2018.

Haynes joined Northampton from Newport in 2022 and made a total of 38 appearances for the Cobblers.

He has nearly 300 career appearances to his name.

Cheltenham are in need of more defensive additions this summer, with left-backs Will Ferry and Ben Williams leaving.

Left-back Lewis Freestone is close to completing a move to Stevenage, while Curtis Davies and Sean Long have also left, leaving Tom Bradbury as the only contracted defender in the squad.
