£15m upgrade deal fuels expansion for Liverpool outfit

Upgrade specialist Next Energy has announced the opening of a new office in the West Midlands after securing £15m worth of work.

Next Energy has been commissioned by West Midlands Combined Authority and Sandwell Borough Council to work on 1,500 properties. The Prescot-headquartered firm is set to improve homes in these schemes through a mix of textile and renewable measures.

To support the expansion, Next Energy has opened new office premises as it maximizes its support rollout in the region, creating over 50 roles in the area.

Home Fit, which installs energy efficiency measures in homes for social landlords and local authorities, previously announced a £45.8m pipeline for the first quarter of 2024, including a multi-million contract with Manchester City Council.

Next has also increased its national ECO 4 capabilities with partners Octopus Energy, British Gas, Ovo Energy and E’on, now providing Local Authority Flex to a total of 46 councils across the UK.

Next Energy is offering its expertise free of charge to new and existing partners in the region who wish to bid for SHDF Wave 3 funding.

Next Energy director Michael Madigan said: “The contracts with West Midlands Combined Authority and Sandwell Borough Council are important partnerships for Next Energy. We continue to ensure homes are more energy efficient, lowering household bills in the process and tackling the climate crisis.

“The new West Midlands offices also underline our commitment to local employment and provide a greater presence for additional control and support for these major projects. Next Energy already recruits in the area and uses a local supply chain”.
