A5 National Motorway closure warning to improve LED lighting and remove dangerous trees

A warning to motorists has been issued by National Highways regarding roadworks on the A5 in North Warwickshire. Lighting will be upgraded on the A5 between Junction 10 of the M42 and the Grendon roundabout.

The work will take place overnight between 8pm and 4am from Thursday 20 June to Monday 1 July. Motorists have been told this will lead to a number of lane closures along the busy stretch of road.




Following work to upgrade the LED lights, National Highways engineers will also remove “dangerous” trees along the A5 between the Grendon roundabout and the Holly Lane roundabout.

The following closures will be in effect:

  • Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21 – Lane 1 closure on the A5 eastbound from junction 10 of the M42 to the Dordon roundabout. There is no access to New Street from the A5.
  • Monday, June 24, Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26 – Lane 1 closure on the westbound A5 from the Dordon roundabout to junction 10 of the M42.
  • Thursday, June 27 – Lane 1 closure on the A5 eastbound and westbound from junction 10 of the M42 to the Dordon roundabout. There is no access to Long Street and Gypsy Lane from Dordon Roundabout.
  • Friday, June 28 Monday, July 1 – Full closure of the A5 eastbound and westbound from the Dordon roundabout to the Grendon roundabout. Lane two closure on the A5 eastbound and westbound.

Dangerous work in trees

Hazardous tree removal work will take place along the A5 between the Grendon roundabout and the Holly Lane roundabout between 9pm and 6am on Tuesday 2nd July, Wednesday 3rd July and Thursday 4th July. National Highways says there will be one lane during this time. closures along with the use of temporary traffic lights.

Access for emergency vehicles and facades will be maintained throughout.
