Leeds United winger Dan James is closer to returning to action this weekend against Norwich City, while Patrick Bamford is ruled out of both legs of the semi-final.

The Whites take on their play-off semi-final opponents Norwich City this Sunday in a bid to turn around their woeful recent league form.

Daniel Farke faces his former club at Carrow Road as Leeds look to find a route to Wembley after missing out on automatic promotion.

Leeds squad news: Patrick Bamford ruled out for both legs

Farke’s pre-match press conference brought key injury news, namely the fitness of Patrick Bamford, who missed the last two games of the season with knee problems.

However, despite a week off action, it’s bad news for Bamford, with injury complications seeing him ruled out for both legs.

The manager revealed he has a patellar tendon injury and will be unavailable for the away and home clashes against the Canaries (via Beren Cross):

Other Leeds squad news: Dan James boost

Dan James was the other key news from Farke, with the winger also missing the last two games with an abdominal injury.

He is said to be recovering well but is not confirmed fit for the match after taking part in some areas of training this week:

Bamford is crushed for Leeds

Taking Bamford off is a massive setback for us, knowing we are a much better team when he plays up front.

We looked poor with Joel Piroe leading the line and you have to wonder if Farke will throw Mateo Joseph into the mix.

He is a natural number nine and deserves his chance from the start of the games, but the pressure is huge on these games.
