The old Citroen dealership is to become a new 75-bed care home in Nuneaton

A former Citroen dealership in Nuneaton is to become a new 75-bed care home. This is according to a new planning application submitted for the Weddington Road site.

It was sold for “redevelopment” last year, with rumors that it would become a care home. Now proposals submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council confirm this is the planned future for the site, which is based next to Aldi.

CGIs are contained in the app that show what the care home would look like. “The home must be cost effective to enable local residents to be able to afford care when they need it, it must be dementia friendly with a residential offer,” the application states.

It will have parking, outside shops and new landscaping to form secure gardens. “Within each floor, the residents’ bedrooms should be grouped into smaller groups, creating a sense of home for the residents,” he adds.

“This approach also means that care staff can be dedicated to specific groups of residents, promoting efficiency of care and infection control. The scheme must be designed from the outset to meet the specific needs of residents, staff and visitors.

“The internal and external layout must be fit for purpose and designed with the staff and care workers who will directly provide care for older and vulnerable people. The overall design needs to be thoughtful, comprehensive and well designed to ensure the care home’s delivery is successful and future-proof.”
