Two motorcyclists were seriously injured in separate crashes in Cornwall today

Two motorcyclists were seriously injured and taken to hospital in separate crashes in Cornwall today.

The Highways Agency first said the crash involved a multi-vehicle collision on the A30 eastbound between the A390 at Chiverton Cross and the A39 at Carland Cross early this morning.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were called to the scene of the crash at around 7.34am and confirmed it involved a blue tractor and a motorbike.

They said the motorcyclist involved was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth with life-threatening injuries. The crash has closed the A30 eastbound at the junction for Three Burrows at Chiverton Cross Roundabout.

The road was closed for around four hours with significant delays in the area. It was finally reopened at around 4pm, with traffic diverted off the exit verge and back onto the inbound carriageway at the Chiverton Cross roundabout.

Police were then called to another crash involving a motorcyclist and a car on Chapel Hill, Cambrose, near Camborne, at around 12.20pm.

This motorcyclist was also taken to hospital and the road was closed in both directions
