Major Bradford road still closed almost 24 hours after major fire

A MAJOR road in Bradford is still closed this morning almost 24 hours after a large fire.

Crews from West Yorkshire rushed to Leeds Road just after 12pm on Wednesday.

Both floors of the Heaton Motor Factors car parts store were involved in the blaze, with emergency services heard telling members of the public to “go back” amid the dangerous scenes.

West Yorkshire Police closed a large section of Leeds Road and advised motorists to avoid the area for much of Wednesday afternoon.

This morning that area of ​​the road remains closed from Thornbury Road to the A6177 Laisterdyke.

Bus services continue to be affected with both the 72 and the X6, which links Bradford to Leeds, suffering diversions.

As of 3:00 p.m., the incident has been brought down as crews continue to defuse the scene.

At 16:00, four relief crews were dispatched to assist with this; of Wakefield, Morley, Cookridge, and Killingbeck.
