Rio Ferdinand explains that Man United are discussing the transfer of Marcus Rashford

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand wants to have a chat with Marcus Rashford before deciding whether or not to stay or leave Old Trafford.

Rashford entered the previous campaign as Erik ten Hag’s star man after scoring 30 goals in the 2022/23 season. However, the 26-year-old’s form dipped as United struggled on the pitch.

The striker managed just eight goals and five assists, which ensured he missed out on England’s European Championship squad for the tournament in Germany. Rashford was disciplined by Ten Hag at the start of 2024 after missing training due to illness.

It later emerged that the attacker had spent the previous night in Belfast with friends. His dip in form has led to some speculation that Rashford could leave the club in the summer with Arsenal and PSG linked, but having recently signed a new contract, either transfer seems unlikely.

Taking part in a social media video with the Daily Mail, Ferdinand was asked if he would be keeping or selling certain United players this summer. When Rashford’s name came up, the 45-year-old couldn’t decide the winger’s future, but explained what he would do instead.

“(Rashford is an) interesting one,” he explained. “I should talk to Rashford and find out where his head is at and what he wants to do.
