New app launched by Wiltshire Council showing events in the county

It’s meant to help us find things to do, closer to home

A new phone app has been set up by Wiltshire Council so we can discover local events and activities in the county so we don’t have to travel so far.

Explore Wiltshire Events gives us a way to search for things to do by location, category, date and facilities available.

It is already populated with all kinds of activities – from community events, family concerts, festivals and exhibitions.

The app can be downloaded for computers, smartphones and tablets from the events.wiltshire.gov.uk website.

Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said:

“We are delighted to launch our new Explore Wiltshire Events app to encourage more people to get out and about in Wiltshire.

“The app is full of fantastic events for everyone, which will not only attract residents and tourists, but will also help boost the county’s economy, which is one of the key objectives of our business plan.

“Funding for this application has been provided through our Wiltshire Towns programme, an investment of £1m every year over four years, which aims to transform Wiltshire’s high streets by boosting business and supporting jobs.

“I would encourage anyone looking for a day out in Wiltshire to check out our new app to find something fun to do near them, especially as summer approaches and the days get longer.”

The web app was developed by Calvium – their CEO Jo Reid said:

“Wiltshire Council has deeply considered how digital technologies can benefit their local communities and visitors and how to increase engagement at the event with a coherent, active and engaging online presence.

“It’s been fantastic to work with such a passionate team and a privilege to contribute to the digital visitor economy of this beautiful and fascinating county.”
