Exemplar Health Care to create 100 new jobs at former Valley View care home site in Lepton

A former care home is to be converted into a home for adults with complex needs, creating 100 new jobs.

Exemplar Health Care, one of the country’s leading healthcare providers for adults living with complex needs, has started work on the conversion of the former Valley View care home in Wakefield Road, Lepton.

Valley View closed suddenly earlier this year and 46 residents were forced to move.

Rotherham-based Exemplar Health Care has appointed contractor Walter Thompson to transform the building into a four-storey home, which will be ready to open in early 2025.

Once the renovation and redevelopment has been completed, the new home will be called Lepton Heights. It will support adults living with complex mental health needs, dementia, neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities.

There will be 43 en-suite bedrooms, divided into four units, including two one-person suites.

The home will also have communal dining and living spaces, sensory bathrooms, a lounge, an activity center and a dedicated therapy room offering holistic therapeutic care and support led by physio and occupational therapists.

Lepton Heights is Exemplar’s #11th care home in the region but the first in Huddersfield and will create 100 new jobs.

Later this year, Exemplar Health Care will be recruiting for a variety of positions, including medical assistants and registered nurses.

Full details of all jobs available at Lepton Heights and other Exemplar Health Care homes can be found on the Exemplar Health Care careers website: www.exemplarhc.com/careers.

Kirklees Council insists on three-month notice period after Valley View Care Home’s sudden closure announcement

Commissioning Manager Katie Capes said: “Our aim is to make every day better for the people we support by providing person-centred care which focuses on maximizing their independence, developing life skills day-to-day and empowering people to live as fulfilling a life as possible.

“It is our ambition that the home will become a place where our residents can be part of the community, whether through work placements, local events or volunteering.

“Lepton Heights will not only provide the local population with much-needed complex care services, it will also create a range of new high-paying healthcare employment opportunities.

“Through our new training academy and leadership pathways, we are also committed to ensuring that all our team members can improve their skills and advance their careers so that our next generation of leaders can come from within the organisation.

“This is an exceptionally exciting time for Exemplar Health Care and the people we support as we continue to invest in the health and care needs of people living in West Yorkshire and increase our contribution to the local economy and community.”
