The Go Parks Active School Challenge is back in Coventry

COVENTRY City has announced its support for the return of the ‘Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge’.

This year’s challenge brings a special Paris 2024 theme, celebrating the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French capital.

From 9 June to 7 July, the Challenge invites all Coventry schools and residents to take part in a month-long outdoor and fitness adventure.

Participants can visit any of the city’s 30 designated parks and green spaces, each representing different Olympic and Paralympic sports.

By scanning QR codes in these parks, visitors can earn virtual medals and points for schools of their choice.

The interactive challenge promises fun and competition with its easy-to-use scoring and scoring system integrated through the Go CV platform.

The more QR codes scanned, the more points schools can accumulate towards winning first place in the Challenge.

The event will feature pop-up activities, exciting challenges and opportunities to win spot prizes, ensuring a vibrant and engaging experience for all involved.

Coventry School Games organizers Danny Kingham and Stuart Davoile said: “It’s been almost 2 years since we ran the last Active Schools Challenge and we can’t wait to support the return of the Challenge.

“We want more schools than ever to take part in this fantastic initiative which absolutely anyone can enjoy – any age, any fitness level, any ability.

“This time, with the Paris 2024 Special, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the Games in France – virtual medals are such a fun way to stay active and encourage return visits to parks… and trips to new ones to collect them all.

“We encourage schools, staff and parents to enter for their own school, but also Coventry residents who can still enjoy the Challenge and select a school to support”

The challenge requires participants to be members of Go CV, the local Coventry membership scheme which allows them to track their progress, collect virtual medals and compete in inter-family competitions – registration can be completed online via the website Go CV.

The Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge has historically seen huge participation, with over 100 schools and over 80,000 residents involved in previous events.
