Nuneaton canal flow recorded amid ‘human concern’ – updates

A disturbance leading to a canal in Nuneaton has been contained. The entrance to Cat Gallows on Greenmoor Road was sealed off with police tape this afternoon (June 13).

Police officers, firefighters and doctors were spotted at the scene. A Warwickshire Police spokesman confirmed to CoventryLive that investigations are ongoing.




They confirmed they responded to 999 calls to reports of concern for a man’s welfare. This call was at 11.45 this morning.


“Officers remain at the scene and firefighters and paramedics were also at the scene,” the police spokesman said.

Cat Gallows remains booked as police officers are still at the scene.

Police confirm the man’s death

Warwickshire Police confirmed a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, who has not been identified, was in his 50s.

A police spokesman said

His next of kin have been informed and we are not treating the death as suspicious at this time.

An air ambulance was called to the scene

Police confirmed that the helicopter, known as the air ambulance, was also called to the scene in addition to paramedics.

This was part of the emergency response to 999 calls made just before midday.

The focus was around the channel.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said:

We were called to Greenmoor Road shortly before 12 noon to reports of concern for a man’s welfare.

Police, fire and ambulance services responded.
