Sol De Janerio fans say £3 Primark versions smell ‘exactly the same’ and ‘ages old’

Primark shoppers have been amazed at how much its budget perfumes smell “just like” a high-end brand. Customers say the retailer is selling £3 bottles of “amazing smelling” perfumes that could easily be mistaken for Sol De Janerio.

Sol De Janerio is a popular beauty brand that first rose to fame with its viral Brazilian Bum Bum cream. Since then, it has become even better known for its range of fragrances.

The best-selling collection includes Cheirosa 59 Delícia Drench, Cheirosa 87 Rio Radiance and Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 68 Beija Flor. You can buy them from places like Boots, Look Fantastic and Sephora, but they’ll set you back between £20 and £40.

Millions of bloggers and beauty enthusiasts on social media, including TikTok, have enjoyed the sprays. However, due to their high price tag, it may deter some people.

For anyone hoping to save a few quid, one shopper says they’ve found an “amazing” and affordable alternative. On the Facebook page, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a member called Angie Latif says people should head to Primark instead.

She said: “I like Sol De Janerio, but it’s like we know, it’s mega money. I tried the HB ones, nice, they are good. But omgosh, the Primark dupe smells EXACTLY like Sol, especially Pink, lasts. only around £3.00 too.”

Angie enjoyed the products in the caption, which was accompanied by a picture of her spray collection – including Glow Perfume Mist from Home Bargains, the Sol De Janerio range and Body Mists from Primark.

At Primark, shoppers can pick up their PS… Tropical Body Mists for just £3.50 per 100ml bottle – saving Sol De Janerio fans more than £16. Its orange bottle is called Maldives Sunset, its light pink option is called Hawaii Paradise, and its blue alternative is Capri Breeze.

Describing the £3.50 body mist, Primark says: “Transport your skin to tropical shores with our delightfully scented body mist… This mist will perfume your skin with its floral and musky scent reminiscent of the weather warmer”.
