Woman jailed for supplying Class A drugs at Bristol Rovers match

A drug dealer who was caught with white powder at a football match has been jailed. Claire Brooks, 52, was arrested at Bristol Rovers’ Memorial Stadium last April after the substance was found, prompting a police officer to search her home.

Avon and Somerset Police found evidence there that Brooks, of Sheldrake Drive, Stapleton, was involved in the supply of class A drugs. She appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on August 24, 2023 and pleaded guilty to being concerned with the supply of class A drugs and possession with intent to supply class A and C drugs.

On Tuesday, June 11, Brooks was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court to 30 months in prison. He was also handed an eight-year football banning order.

PC Dedicated Football Officer Mark Neal said: “Drugs are a blight on our communities and have no place in our society, including in football. I would like to thank Bristol Rovers for their support and co-operation during this investigation.

“The custodial sentence is one that reflects the seriousness of her offense and the recent change in legislation in relation to the possession or supply of class A drugs such as cocaine allows for a football banning order to be issued. We work closely with our clubs to ensure our football matches are a safe environment for all and I would encourage people to report suspicious behavior to us.”
