Lambeth Council is inviting residents to have their say on the Age Friendly Lambeth Action Plan

Lambeth is asking for your views on their Action Plan to make Lambeth an “age-friendly borough enabling people to age well and live well later”.

They say the consultation on the draft Action Plan for Age Friendly Lambeth will set out the proposed actions they will take to help Lambeth become an Age Friendly Borough.

In a statement, they said

As part of our Lambeth District Plan 2030, Lambeth is developing an action plan to support our local approach to becoming an age-friendly borough. An age-friendly neighborhood is a place that allows people to age well and live a good life later.

Our draft action plan brings together actions to support residents aged 50+ and focuses on key areas of community life that we know are important to supporting people to age well.

These include transport, outdoor spaces and buildings, housing, social participation and inclusion, civic participation and employment, community support and health services, and communication and information.

To produce the Plan, Lambeth Council engaged with residents and partners through focus groups, our Age Friendly Forum and last year’s Age Friendly Engagement, where over 700 residents shared their views on aging in Lambeth.

To inform the Plan, we also looked at the evidence base on ageing, learned from what works well in other Age Friendly communities across the UK and worked with Council colleagues.

Ruth Hutt, Director of Public Health, said

“Age Friendly Lambeth provides an important opportunity to support us all to age well and lead healthier and more active lives.

Our draft action plan sets out actions in the eight key areas of community life that we believe will help support aging in Lambeth.

We would now like your views on our draft action plan to inform the final document and our approach over the coming years.”

To have your say or to read more about their draft action plan, please visit the Age Friendly Lambeth consultation webpage. The consultation opens at 09:00 on Thursday 6th June and runs until 11:59th July 2024. You can have your say:
