A man has died in the Nuneaton canal tragedy amid a huge 999 response

Police have confirmed that a man’s body has been found in a canal in Nuneaton. Cat Gallows was sealed off with police tape earlier today (June 13).

Firefighters, paramedics and police officers were spotted in the area around the canal off Greenmoor Road. Warwickshire Police confirmed they were called at 11.45am,

“We were called to Cat Gallows after concerns were raised about a man believed to be in the canal,” a force spokesman said. “Officers attended along with the fire brigade, ambulance and helim service.

“Unfortunately, a 50-year-old man was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed and we are not treating the death as suspicious at this time.”

The police spokesman added that a file would now be prepared for the coroner.
