Simple way to clean your glass oven door in 30 minutes using a 30p item – and it’s not vinegar or baking soda

Cleaning the oven is probably one of the household chores that is most likely to be put off. However, the longer this task is delayed, the more difficult it becomes to achieve a shiny oven, especially when it comes to the glass door.

Although there are plenty of oven cleaners available in the market, they are loaded with harsh chemicals. In an effort to “never use” harmful oven cleaners, Joanne and Tracy, the duo behind @additivefreelifestyle on Instagram, have revealed a simple method they think you’ll “be amazed by”.

They shared a video demonstrating how households can use lemons to clean their oven’s glass door and entire appliance, Express reports.

The influencers captioned the video: “For years I’ve been using our soft cleansing scrub and while it’s great, it can be a pain to get out and sometimes leaves residue. I will never use it again now I know how to do it. And I will never use the toxic stuff from the shops, which I certainly did before I knew better.”

To clean your oven ‘naturally’ start by slicing lemons (may need more depending on how dirty your oven is), place them in a tray, cover with water and bake in the oven at 200C for 30 minutes. The combination of citrus and water will steam the oven, acting as a natural degreaser and softening the dirt inside.

Afterwards, turn off the oven and choose to either keep the door closed to let it cool, or open it to speed up the cooling process, which will include the lemons and water inside.

Next, wash the oven doors and interior walls using a little lemon water if necessary and then wipe dry. Influencers shared, “With stubborn areas and shelves I rubbed the boiled lemon over and it cleaned up easily. You will be amazed.”
