Jurgen Klopp takes to Instagram to tell Liverpool fans he is returning to Anfield

Jurgen Klopp stepped down as Liverpool manager at the end of the Premier League season, but the beloved German returned to Anfield on Thursday night for a special event.

Liverpool confirm head coach Slot as Klopp’s successor

Jurgen Klopp is back at Anfield – but not to manage Liverpool.

The German, who stepped down from his position when the 2023-24 Premier League season ended, returned to Merseyside to watch a Taylor Swift concert. Klopp bid an emotional farewell to the Anfield crowd last month and was replaced by Dutch manager Arne Slot ahead of the new campaign.

Klopp and wife Ulla, who was dressed in pink, were spotted in the stands on Thursday as Swift kicks off three nights at Anfield on his record-breaking Eras tour. Surprising fans on Instagram, Klopp posted a video which was captioned: “Coming back to a place I know ‘All Too Well’… See you at Anfield @TaylorSwift.”

Speaking from what appeared to be his home, the 56-year-old told the camera: ‘So back to Liverpool and now it’s Taylor’s time!

“So, three things I had to do today. No, I had two. A barber’s appointment with Umut then… we’re going out to Anfield. First time I’m not going to a football match, but in the stands and watching at Taylor Rapid.

“So yeah, I’m not Taylor made obvious…but Taylor done. Let’s go to Anfield and have a good night. A great night would be cool. See you there.”

Supporters thought Klopp bid a final farewell last month with an event at Liverpool’s M&S Arena as he looked back on an incredible eight-and-a-half year spell.
