Chelsea are closing in on a move as Leeds United await the impact of their £60m decision

The summer transfer window officially opens tomorrow and with that, we may finally see the start of some real activity. Newcastle United have today confirmed the signing of Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth, but so far Premier League clubs have been relatively quiet.

That may be about to change. Chelsea, along with the likes of Liverpool and Brighton, have been linked with a move for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman was named the Championship Player of the Year for last season and all expectations are that one of the top clubs will make a move for the £30million-rated player.

The Blues have been favorites to sign Summerville for some time, but it appears they have turned their attentions elsewhere, meaning one of the Premier League-linked sides could be about to cut themselves out of the running for the striker. Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea have made contact with Crystal Palace over Michael Olise’s £60m release clause and are now seeking permission to hold talks with the player’s representatives.

said Romano; “Chelsea have today approached Crystal Palace to request further details on Michael Olise’s release clause. He is again among the top targets for Chelsea as #CFC ask for permission to talk to the player. The race still open with several clubs keen, Chelsea are pushing now.”

Liverpool are also understood to favor a move for Olise over Summerville, meaning the Reds could turn their attention to the Leeds man if Olise is no longer an option, while Brighton would be keen.
