Kings Heath pedestrian hit by lorry suffers ‘life-changing injuries’

A pedestrian who was hit by a lorry and trapped underneath has suffered ‘life-changing injuries’. It followed a horrific collision in Kings Heath yesterday, Thursday 13th June.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it responded to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian on Alcester Road South, near Brandwood, at 6.11pm. He sent three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a trauma doctor and two emergency paramedics to the scene.




The man was found trapped under the vehicle. He was released and rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service told BirminghamLive: “On arrival crews found an elderly man trapped under the lorry. Once freed, medics treated him for potentially life-changing injuries before he was taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

“The trauma doctor moved on board to continue the treatment en route.” BirminghamLive has contacted West Midlands Police for comment.

Last night the force posted on X: “#COLLISION | We are currently on the scene of a serious collision on Alcester Road, #KingsHeath, #Birmingham. We have closed Alcester Road, Woodthorpe Road junction with Sunderton Road, Taylor Road and Maple Croft. Please avoid.”
