Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for:
Newmarket – Georgina – North York Region
Midland – Coldwater – Lake Orr
Orillia – Lagoon City – Washago
Barrie – Collingwood – Hillsdale
Innisfil – New Tecumseth – Angus

Severe Thunderstorm Warning has ended for:
Owen Sound – Blue Mountains – Northern Gray County

Current details:
At 8:03 PM EDT, Environment Canada forecasters are tracking a line of strong thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and nickel-sized hail.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located 9 kilometers north-east of Rathburn to Colbeck, moving east at 80 km/h.

Dangers:
Wind gusts of 110 km/h
Hail up to a quarter
Tornado risk

Affected locations include:
Orangeville, Barrie, Orillia, Shelburne, Alliston, New Tecumseth, Bradford, Innisfil and Beaverton.

Large hail can damage property and cause personal injury. Strong gusts of wind can throw objects loose, damage weak buildings, snap tree limbs and overturn large vehicles. Remember, strong thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when the thunder rolls, get indoors!

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when impending or developing storms are likely to produce or produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
