‘Negotiations ongoing’ with Leeds to buy Whites – Player wants out of Elland Road

On June 4, we covered claims in the Italian media that new AS Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi was working on signing Diego Llorente from Leeds United.

A day later, Il Tempo reported that the 30-year-old wants to return to Serie A after spending the last 18 months on loan with them.

Another report from the same outlet claimed that the Leeds player is putting pressure on his entourage to secure an exit from Elland Road in the summer window.

Earlier this week, Corriere dello Sport explained that Roma are considering bringing him back to the club. Not the case if a report from a new Il Tempo report, transmitted by Voce Giallo Rossa, is to be believed.

The Giallorossi are making efforts to try and secure a new contract for the Spaniard. It is claimed that “negotiations are ongoing” with Leeds to buy the centre-back, who is valued at around €5m.

Llorente’s contract with the Whites runs until 2026. With Roma keen to buy the player, Daniel Farke’s side have the opportunity to cash in on his sale this summer.
