Chaos breaks out on Coventry street as man ‘slashed’

A man has been injured after being ‘slashed with a knife’ in Coventry. Chaos broke out on Clifford Bridge Road in Walsgrave in the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday, June 13).

Police were called to an incident on Clifford Bridge Road at around 1.30am. Officers found three men involved in a fight, West Midlands Police said.



One of the men was found to have suffered a minor leg injury. Officers arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of assault and possession of a knife, and a 48-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife, West Midlands Police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to contact West Midlands Police. Information can also be given to Crimestoppers.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We arrested two men following an altercation involving three men on Clifford Bridge Road in Coventry at around 1.30am yesterday (June 13). The police intervened and arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of assault and possession of a knife.

“A 48-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife. He was taken to hospital for treatment of a small leg wound.
