The Frates mark 10 years of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

BOSTON – It’s been 10 years since Pete Frates’ ALS charity movement reached the world. “How many mothers get to say that their child made a difference in the world?” said an emotional Nancy Frates.

For Pete Frates’ biggest fan, this milestone feels bittersweet. A decade since her boy set out to change the fight against ALS. The worldwide viral Ice Bucket Challenge has raised many millions and led to more research and better care.

“When Pete was diagnosed, we didn’t even know where the tunnel was for treatment. Today we’re not just in the tunnel. We can see the healing. We just need people to stick with us,” she said.
