Huge crowds gather in Stanley Park to create a party atmosphere for the Taylor Swift Anfield concert

Massive crowds gathered in Stanley Park tonight as Taylor Swift’s Eras tour continued in the city.

The world’s biggest pop star played the second of three sold-out shows at Anfield on Friday. Glorious sunshine arrived on Merseyside today and ticketless Swifties headed to the nearby park to catch a bit of the action.

The ECHO captured images of families gathered in the park cheering as the 34-year-old musician took to the stage. Megan, Karen and Emily were among hundreds enjoying the summer sun with family at the park.

They told the ECHO: “We just wanted to come here for the atmosphere and the kids. It is so interesting. A lot of children came to us and exchanged bracelets.

“We just have a few gins and enjoy the show. It’s such a beautiful atmosphere here.” Catrin, Cara and David were also enjoying the atmosphere in the park, saying: ‘We just love Taylor Swift, we can’t get enough of her, we’ve been following everyone live on Instagram.

“It’s a very lovely atmosphere here. We were a little nervous because people said you couldn’t hear anything from the park, but it’s pretty good.”

The weather for tonight’s show is a dramatic improvement from yesterday as heavy rain dominated the outlook.

However, fans refused to let the gloomy weather dampen their spirits as Taylor was blown away by the special atmosphere generated by the crowd. The singer shared her appreciation for how they braved the weather to make the 100th performance of the tour one to remember.

She said: “I just want to say that these things mean the world to us to be able to play the show for people who would go so above and beyond for us and welcome us to Liverpool in such a way.

“We love you very much.”

Non-ticketed fans are advised not to head into the stadium or surrounding areas, and camping is strictly prohibited in or near the stadium, including in local parks. Speaking about people gathering in nearby Stanley Park, Chief Superintendent Zoe Thornton said: “It’s a public park. People can go to him. And we encourage people to go to parks. It is absolutely correct.

“There are bylaws in place, though, not to camp. So really our request to people is to not consider camping. It’s not the right place for camping. If we have to enforce the bylaw that will be with the authority local. People can go, they can go listen, but not overnight camping.”
