A new market has been launched as Underfall Yard recovers from the devastating fire

A new market at Underfall Yard has been launched as the site recovers from a devastating fire. Promising the best of Bristol’s outdoor producers, artisans and craft producers Underfall Market opens for visitors in July.

The new market will feature up to 20 stalls from local Bristol traders in the historic harbor setting. Released as part of the Yard Fest weekend. returning for its eighth year, the square is the site’s first new initiative since it was badly damaged by fire in May 2023.




The blaze caused by arsonist Robert Boyd-Stevenson caused “catastrophic” damage which will cost at least £2.6m and three years to repair, Bristol Crown Court previously heard. Underfall Yard Trust were delighted to unveil the event as they prepare for Yard Fest.

Director of the Underfall Yard Trust, Sarah Murray, said: “For more than 150 years Underfall Yard has been the trades, skills and crafts hub for Bristol Port. So we are delighted to extend our space to Bristol makers and welcome them to the heart of Bristol Harbour.

“The stalls run alongside our usual lineup of incredible music, along with live cars and skill demonstrations at Yard Fest.

“The Trust is committed to reviving the workshops lost in the fire to continue the site’s long legacy as a shipyard. Opening up to retailers and welcoming more members of the public this year is an important step along the journey towards achieving this.”
