Aldi shoppers shunned after popular item discontinued following ‘review’

Aldi has come under fire after a core freezer product was apparently ‘discontinued’. Taking to social media on Facebook, Aldi shoppers have issued a warning after failing to find the product in their local stores.

Aldi is rivaled by the likes of Lidl, Morrisons, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco. One shopper wrote on the Aldi UK Shoppers Facebook group: “Does anyone know if they’ve been discontinued, can’t find them anywhere,” alongside a piece of Four Seasons Lemon & Lime Slices.

“Yes, they are discontinued! We might have them back in the summer! Last year was the first year we sold them,” one user shared. A second said: “I think they’ve been discontinued as I was buying them 2 years ago but haven’t seen them since.”

Helping the buyer out, another customer explained a solution and typed: “So easy to make yourself, all you have to do is separate the slices while they freeze first (use parchment paper to separate the layers ).

“Once frozen, you can put them together in a bag or container to reclaim freezer space.” And another typed: “I freeze myself on a cutting board and then take out.” And another agreed, quick to write back: “We just freeze the fresh ones we don’t use so they don’t go to waste.”

Aldi has confirmed that Four Seasons Lemon & Lime Slices (350g) are no longer available. An Aldi spokesman said: “We continually review our product range to ensure we meet the needs of Aldi shoppers.”

The product description for the 350g bags on the Aldi website says: “Use the desired amount of frozen in the desired drink to refresh it. TO THAW: Thaw at room temperature for a minimum of 1½ to 2 hours or alternatively in a refrigerator for a minimum of 12 hours Once thawed, refrigerate and use within 24 hours.
