The Huddersfield Giants v Leeds Rhinos women’s match will raise funds for MND in memory of Rob Burrow

Huddersfield Giants Women take on Leeds Rhinos at Laund Hill on Sunday and the game was dedicated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of Rob Burrow.

The Women’s Super League clash kicks off at 2pm on Father’s Day – and Huddersfield Giants Supporters’ Association (HGSA) want to encourage fans to bring their dads and support a great cause.

Former Leeds Rhinos legend Rob died this month four and a half years after being diagnosed with MND. He has spent the last few years raising awareness and funds for a disease that currently has no cure.

There will be plenty of MNDA branded merchandise available at the game and information about what the MND Association is doing to fight this terrible disease.

There will be MNDA t-shirts and goodies for purchase, with all profits going to the charity. In addition to a bucket collection, there will be a raffle for a Giants and Rhinos autographed shirt, with all proceeds to be donated to the MNDA.

HGSA has also agreed to donate proceeds from the Golden Gamble halftime draw to the MNDA.

HGSA chairman Martin Eastwood said: “With no home games for the men’s first team over the next few weeks, we are appealing to anyone who would like their Sunday rugby schedule to come to Laund Hill.

“It’s a chance to support the club and cheer the girls on against their local rivals, but also to support women’s rugby league and of course support the MNDA and honor the memory of Rob Burrow.

“It’s also Father’s Day, why not give Dad a lift? The bar and cafe will be open, so treat dad to a bacon from Deborah at the Kitson Table and a pint from the bar.

“We hope to see as many people there as possible. What else would you do with dad!”

Giants mascot Big G will lead the teams and will be available throughout the day to meet and greet fans.

Entry prices are £6 for adults and £2 for under 16s and children under 5 go free. Both cash and card payments are accepted in the complex.

Parking is free, although it will also be limited on a first-come, first-served basis. Dogs are not allowed at Laund Hill, with the exception of guide dogs.
