A line of severe thunderstorms swept through Lower Bucks County Friday night.

The system unleashes strong winds, heavy rain and hail. Damage and power outages result, mostly in Bristol Borough and parts of Bristol Township.

The storm, which hit around 5:45 p.m., brought winds strong enough to topple trees and snap limbs, while rains led to flash flooding in the area.

The worst impacts were felt in the Croydon, Newportville and West Bristol sections of Bristol Borough and Bristol Township.

By 8 p.m., about 4,000 customers in Bristol Borough and Bristol Township were without power, according to PECO. Power was restored after several smaller, scattered outages in Levittown.

Local reports indicated flash flooding on Cedar Avenue in Croydon, while fallen tree limbs obstructed traffic near the intersection of Route 13. Additionally, a fallen tree caused damage to PECO equipment at a substation in Bristol Borough, and traffic lights in both neighborhood as well as in the locality were affected. also reported.
