‘Bristol’s best country pub’ is to reopen after major refurbishment

A popular pub on the outskirts of Bristol famous for its Sunday lunch has announced its reopening the day after it closed for a major refurbishment.

The Ashton pub has a new look after a makeover and a brand new menu and will officially reopen on Saturday 6th July – just in time for the first Sunday lunch in July and just after some much-coveted ‘rehearsal events’ . fans of the pub can book tickets well in advance for a preview of what the pub looks like now.




The pub, which bills itself as ‘Bristol’s best country pub’, is right on the border between Bristol and North Somerset – the back fence and beer garden mark the boundary between the two counties. For years it has been a favorite destination for generations of Bristolians, especially those who have worked up a wander around Ashton Court, the town’s mansion and the park on the other side of the pub garden hedge.

The refurbishment has been quite extensive and the pub has been closed for several months. As well as completely changing the inside of the pub, there were changes to the outside that even required planning permission – the car park and entrances were improved, new fences and stone bollards were installed and a new arch was built at the main entrance , because as well as an umbrella and retractable awnings to enhance the outdoor areas of the beer garden.

The refurbishment of the interior of the pub itself, which has been inspired by nature and wildlife, is now close to completion and bosses are already taking bookings for rehearsal days and nights as well as Saturday 6th July.

There’s a launch party – which will require booking for this preview – on Friday 5th July from 6.30pm. There will also be a whole new menu – and pub bosses are gushing about what the new look will be like inside.
