Leeds United now want to sign a player whose manager has already admitted he is likely to leave

The manager of one of Leeds United’s newest transfer targets has already admitted he is likely to leave this summer.

Leeds are looking for a host of new signings this summer as they look to build a squad capable of supporting a promotion push that can go one better next season.

Clubs can officially start doing transfer business from today and Leeds have been linked with a number of players since their defeat to Southampton at Wembley last month.

However, Paraag Marathe has already admitted that Leeds will need to sell a few players this summer, and before the end of the financial year on June 30, they could be at the forefront.

That said, there are plenty of free agents and loan offers that could be on the market for Leeds to look at in the meantime.

What Mark Robins said about Callum O’Hare’s future amid Leeds interest

Leeds made their first real decision of the summer transfer window earlier this week with the news that Brenden Aaronson will return.

The number 10 position was an area of weakness last season after failing to sign Nadiem Amiri last summer, and Aaronson certainly looks like he could help solve that.

However, he may not be the only attacking midfielder in Leeds’ squad this August amid reports they have joined the race for Coventry City’s Callum O’Hare.

O’Hare is out of contract at the end of this month and looks set to be available on a free transfer, making him one of the Championship’s hottest properties right now.

And while there is still time for him to put pen to paper on a new deal at Coventry, Mark Robins’ comments after the final game of the season are a positive sign for Leeds.

Robins admitted to the Coventry Telegraph that he expects O’Hare to leave on a free despite his determination to keep him at the club.

He said: “Then it’s Callum O’Hare and I just said in the dressing room, I’m not going to give you up. But we started laughing and I know he’ll probably pick another place to go.

“But he was also incredible and I thought the fans were outstanding with him, as were all the players.”

Jack Grealish has already given his verdict on Leeds target O’Hare

Despite missing the first three months of the season with a serious knee injury, O’Hare finished the season with nine goals in all competitions.

In just his second start back after completing his recovery, O’Hare scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Birmingham City in December.

Someone he knows well from Manchester City’s Aston Villa, Jack Grealish, was very impressed with what he saw that night and it’s fair to say it would be a coup for Leeds.

He said, “Well done son. Nice to see you again after your injury. Class tonight.”
