Three Premier League clubs are eyeing Sheffield Wednesday this summer

A Sheffield Wednesday player has interest from “at least three” Premier League sides as well as Championship sides.

Sheffield Wednesday’s first team look set to undergo some drastic changes this summer, with the initial changes already taking place.

The Owls left a number of first-team players through their retained list last month, most notably the exit of George Byers as a free agent.

Lee Gregory and Reece James have found new clubs, while goalkeeper Cameron Dawson is in talks with Bristol Rovers following the arrival of Ben Hamer.

Hamer, 36, joins as a free agent following his release from Watford last month, becoming Danny Rohl’s first permanent signing as Sheffield Wednesday manager.

The Owls look set to make many more signings this summer. But Rohl could also face a fight to keep some of his key players.

Now, it has been revealed that Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri has interest from the Premier League and elsewhere in the Championship.

Premier League interest in Sheffield Wednesday’s Bailey Cadamarteri

Cadamarteri, 19, has just completed his breakout 2023/24 season with a handful of appearances for England U20s in friendlies against Sweden and Republic of Ireland.

The Sheffield Wednesday academy graduate made his Championship debut last season, burst onto the scene under Rohl and eventually made 23 appearances in the second tier, scoring four goals.

Now, however, an emerging report from The Star has revealed that Cadamarteri is interested in “at least three Premier League outfits” after the summer transfer window opened on Friday.

The same report also states that Cadamarteri, who signed a long-term contract until 2028 in December, “has admirers in the Championship”.

Bailey Cadamarteri will leave Sheffield Wednesday this summer

There is no doubt that Cadamarteri has enjoyed a strong debut season in the Sheffield Wednesday first team and is a player with huge potential.

He is a natural scorer and a hardworking player for the team. But if a Premier League side comes in with a suitable offer then it may be difficult for owner Dejphon Chansiri to turn it down.

The Owls remain in dire financial straits. Rohl and Chansiri also need additional funds to help rebuild the first team this season, so selling an asset like Cadamarteri may make financial sense.

However, Rohl will surely be keen to keep hold of the young forward and build a squad around him and some of the Owls’ other emerging talent.

If Cadamarteri is kept around and gets more first-team exposure next season, then this time next year, his transfer value could easily double.

It is difficult for the club to weigh. But the interest in his services is certainly a credit to him.
