The owner of popular Indian restaurant Bristol shares his favorite places to eat in the city

As part of a series on Bristol Live focusing on some of the best-loved restaurants and their staff – and where they like to dine out, this week we spoke to a well-known restaurateur who is known, not only for the food, but also for him and his staff’s music.

Sujith D’almeida is the owner of Urban Tandoor, one of Bristol’s most popular and famous restaurants. And that’s partly down to the delicious food served at the venue on Whiteladies Road in Clifton, and also partly down to its staff getting involved in some hilarious musical parodies.

The restaurant’s TikTok page (at the time of writing) shows the team has amassed over 200,000 followers and 8.1 million likes thanks to their renditions of hit songs, including their own renditions of Aqua’s Barbie Girl, Murder On The Dancefloor and Sophie Ellis Bextor. Mr. Brightside of the Killers, to name just a few.

Owner Sujith has said in the past that his staff is always ready for a show, despite none of them having practiced or performed before. The restaurant owner was even interviewed on the radio by the likes of Greg James and Chris Moyles, who gave their tracks some airtime, much to their delight.

But when Sujith isn’t running a successful business or dressing up his team in wigs and making them sing to their fans on TikTok and the like, where does he like to go for a break and a delicious meal in Bristol? We spoke to him to find out…

Hi Sujith, tell us what is your absolute favorite place in Bristol?

“Muse Brasserie – brilliant food and lovely decor, friendly staff. Muse offers a unique and inspiring French fusion dining experience.”
