Foo Fighters at Emirates Old Trafford – stage times, support acts, setlist and how to get there

The Foo Fighters eagerly return to Manchester this week to kick off a summer run of UK stadium shows. The band are here on their Everything or Nothing at All UK tour, fresh from a string of acclaimed gigs in the States.

In what are shaping up to be some seriously monumental shows, the band play two nights at the Emirates Old Trafford Stadium on June 13 and 15, before heading to Glasgow, London, Cardiff and Birmingham.

Fans who have seen Dave Grohl and co in action know exactly what to expect from these shows – their last outing here in Manchester was hailed by our reviewer as “a crowd-pleasing riot of a set of the greatest hits”.

This summer’s dates also mark Foo Fighters’ most extensive UK tour since the release of their critically acclaimed 11th album But Here We Are. It entered the UK charts at number one – the sixth Foo Fighters album to do so – while generating some of the most positive critical reviews of the band’s career.

We can also expect tender moments at these shows too, as the band pays tribute to much-loved drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away in March 2022. At previous concerts, the song Aurora was played in tribute to the much-missed musician.

Here we take a look at some of the other gig details if you’re heading to the Manchester shows this week.

Who are the supporting documents?

There will be different supporting acts at the two concerts in Manchester.

On Thursday 13 June, fans will be able to see Manchester’s Loose Articles kick off the party at Old Trafford before Brit and Grammy Award winning band Wet Leg take to the stage.

In the concert on Saturday 15 June, fans will be treated to Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett and South Wales alternative rockers Chroma supporting the band.

Stage times

Stage times are provided as a guide and are always subject to change. The best advice is to always get in and find your seats as early as possible to enjoy the show. The following stages have now been confirmed on the band’s official account for Saturday’s gig at Emirates Old Trafford.

Doors open: 4 p.m

Chroma: 17.25

Courtney Barnett: 6.15pm

Foo Fighters: 7.30pm

Curfew: 22.30

The times above went almost exactly to this schedule on opening night, June 13, with Foo Fighters arriving on stage at 7:40pm and finishing at 10:20pm.

Will it be the goods?

Merchandise will indeed be available at the Manchester shows. But the band have just announced that they will be opening merchandise stalls outside the venue early for those looking to pick up their tour T-shirts before the shows.

Merchandise stands will be open on Wednesday 12 June from 12pm to 7pm at Gate 10/11 on Talbot Road. You can find out all the details about what’s on sale here.

How to get to Emirates Old Trafford

Via Metrolink:

Fans are advised to travel to the show by public transport as there is no parking available at Old Trafford Cricket Ground – with the exception of accessibility parking which can be booked on the Emirates Old Trafford website. Those traveling by tram can reach Old Trafford tram station, connected to the Bury and Altrincham lines, which is right next to the ground.

Stretford, Old Trafford, A56 Chester Road and Altrincham Metrolink Line stations are all set to be busier as a result of the gigs, especially as there are big gigs in town on both nights at Co-op Live, where the revelers are. being encouraged to use the trams.

After the concert, fans can use Old Trafford station for journeys back into the city center and Trafford Bar for journeys south on the East Didsbury or Airport lines. The concert will finish at 10.30pm and the last tram from Old Trafford to the city center will leave at 1.08am and to Altrincham at 12.29pm. The last tram from Trafford Bar to East Didsbury will leave at 23:46 and to the airport at 23:31.

By car:

If you’re driving to the gig, be warned that Mancunian Way and Bridgewater Way towards Emirates Old Trafford will be extremely busy.

And after the show, Chester Road to the M60 and routes including Wharfside Way, Village Way and the Parkway to the M60 will also be heavily congested, with delays expected. Fans can park for free at the Parkway or Sale Water Park and use the Park and Ride services to catch the tram to Trafford Bar/Wharfside. Fans can also park at the Old Trafford football ground, but charges apply.

Taxis:

Taxi pick-up and drop-off will be Chorley Street – for northbound destinations – or Tesco Superstore on Chester Road for southbound destinations.

Will there be road closures?

Roads around the stadium (Brian Statham Way, Great Stone Road, Warwick Road and Talbot Road at the front of the ground) will be closed during the concert.
