Stand in the sunlight to hear. This is the big news of the Manchester Awards

Stars headed out under the Manchester sun to hear a big announcement about one of the city’s biggest awards nights. The annual This is Manchester Awards celebrate the people, places and organizations that make the city great – and they had a big announcement to make about the 2024 event.

Famous faces and VIP guests were invited to a special 7th anniversary celebration to launch this year’s awards at the Dear Sailor bar on Spinningfields.

The awards will be hosted again in 2024 by TV presenter Jenny Powell along with former Love Island star Scott Thomas – who also hosted the Dear Sailor party on Thursday night. They teased that this year’s event will “take it to another level.”

Guests at the party included ex-Hollyoaks star Sarah-Jayne Dunn, who arrived at the event in a figure-hugging leopard print suit with her friend, former The Apprentice finalist Camilla Ainsworth, in a lime green bikini top and matching pants.

Each year, hundreds of businesses and individuals submit nominations in a selection of categories, including Restaurant of the Year, Venue of the Year and the Supernova Awards which honor people who have made a big difference to the life of the city. Awards founder Ziara Siddique announced at the event that this year the awards will have a brand new home at the AO Arena on November 14.

The event will open to an even bigger audience this year. Host Jenny Powell said: “This year we’re raising the bar and it’s going to be something new, something different. There is a great secret that we will unleash tonight.”

The newspaper said: “I am extremely proud and humbled by the support We have received for This Is Manchester since our inception. AO Arena was always on the vision board.

“To have the support of Jen Mitchell and venue operator ASM Global throwing their support behind us is a huge pinch me moment. There’s no denying that its position in Manchester city center and our world-class music and entertainment program contributes to everyone involved in the city’s night-time economy.”

Jen Mitchell, Managing Director of the AO Arena, also spoke at the event and said: “It seems like a perfect partnership for an event that focuses on everything that makes Manchester great and a venue that has been in the center of the action for the past 30 years. years.”

Nominations for the awards open on May 13, with new categories recognizing the region’s contributions to the music industry, as well as the all-important grassroots sector that has always provided a critical glue for young talent and industries.

It was also announced that this year’s awards will support Nordoff and Robbins – the UK’s largest music therapy charity and will continue to support the region’s most vulnerable young people through its ongoing involvement with Hideout Youth Zones.
