PEC Zwolle left-back Anselmo Garcia MacNulty has been linked with a move to England in 2024, with Leeds United and Leicester City two of the clubs said to be interested.

Leeds are planning for their second and hopefully final season in the Championship in 24/25 after losing in the play-off final at the end of May.

Their transfer strategy under the 49ers is again about who they can keep in addition to who they invest in signing, and there are a few positions that need attention.

Leeds United are interested in Anselmo Garcia MacNulty from PEC Zwolle

One name that has been linked with an Elland Road move recently is Republic of Ireland U21 international Anselmo Garcia MacNulty.

The 21-year-old defender has been in impressive form for Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle and Republic of Ireland U21s.

Voetbal International have shared Leeds’ interest in the summer arrival of the defender, who is contracted until 2026 with the Dutch club.

Happy to have Aaronson back?

Leeds have given Leicester a boost in their bid for McNulty

Also named in the same report were Leicester, who have been linked alongside Leeds in recent weeks.

However, the fact that the Foxes pipped Leeds to automatic promotion last season effectively means they are expected to be out of contention for the defender:

“However, it remains to be seen whether MacNulty will still play for PEC next season. There is interest in the defender from the English Championship.

“Among others, Leeds United, who missed out on promotion to the Premier League, are eyeing McNulty. Earlier, Leicester City were also interested. That club got promoted, which probably changed the transfer plans.”

With Leicester now perhaps looking for more guaranteed shots on their return to the Premier League and fighting to stay up, it could leave Leeds with a free run at the young defender.
