12-year-old schoolboy dies in ‘hit-and-run’ BMW in Coventry, police plea for witnesses

A schoolboy has died in Coventry after being hit by a car in a “hit and run”, police said, as they launched an urgent appeal for any witnesses or dashcam footage.

A 12-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in Coventry that failed to stop, police have revealed.

West Midlands Police are appealing for information after the collision happened shortly after 4.30pm on Friday and the boy died at the scene.




Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to come forward. Police confirmed the car involved was a BMW. The car was later impounded, but help was still being sought to find the people who were in the car at the time.

Sergeant Rich Evans, from West Midlands Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We would appeal to the driver or any passengers who were in the vehicle to do the right thing and contact us. A 12 year old boy has tragically lost his life and we need you to come forward and surrender.

“We are helping to support the family at this very difficult time as they try to understand what has happened.
