UK braces for first scorching 30C heatwave of the year, with ‘three hottest regions’

Britain is set for its first 30C heatwave of the summer – finally – with weather maps burning bright red. Ventusky weather maps and charts released today show 30C across southern England, including Somerset, roasting in 30C heat.

Projections show maximum temperatures of just below 30C in Salisbury and the Midlands as well as Wales. The best of the weather – which will hit the areas mentioned above as well as the north west of England – will hit around 4pm.

Looking ahead to the end of June and the beginning of July, the BBC Weather team have provided a forecast of what’s in store for the sixth month of the year and the seventh month of the year to start.

It explains: “With high pressure likely to remain close to or north of the UK, there is a better chance of calmer and drier conditions in the first week of July. In particular, southern parts of the UK could remain warmer, although uncertainties are growing. .

“Given the differences in weather forecast models, there is a chance that conditions will be quite changeable, sometimes windier and cooler. There is also a risk of high pressure moving to the west or northwest of the UK and a generally cooler northwesterly flow breaking through for a period.

“The second week of July could remain warmer across much of the UK as an area of high pressure extends from the UK into western and central continental Europe. Therefore, drier and calmer conditions are likely to continue or return. For the far north, however, there is still a risk of wetter, windier and slightly cooler conditions.

To summarize, the trend toward calmer and even summer conditions after the start of the astronomical summer appears to be continuing, at least for the time being.”
