Devon and Cornwall Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found dead in Liskeard.

Police were first alerted to an incident by the ambulance service at around 8.40am on Saturday morning (June 15).

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman who was deceased at a secluded property near Merrymeet in the town.

As part of the initial investigations, a 75-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remanded in custody, where he currently remains.

The family of the deceased woman has been notified of her death, and an investigation has been launched into the woman’s death.

Police said based on their initial investigations, they believe the suspect and victim knew each other.

The force currently remains at the scene as inquiries are ongoing, with the force appealing for anyone who may have information that could help to get in touch as soon as possible.
