Attempted murder investigated after man stabbed during ‘big bath in Hagley pub car park’

An attempted murder investigation has been launched after a man was left fighting for his life after being stabbed in a pub car park. The incident happened at the Lyttleton Arms in Bromsgrove Road, Hagley, shortly after 9.30pm on Thursday (May 9).

West Mercia Police reported that officers were called to a fight at the pub, with a 36-year-old man stabbed. West Midlands Ambulance Service said the injured man was taken to a major trauma center following the disturbance.




A spokeswoman for the service said: “An ambulance, a paramedic officer, a MERIT (Emergency Response and Response Team) trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic and the WMAS critical care vehicle attended the scene . Upon arrival, we found a male with potentially life-threatening injuries.

“He received advanced trauma care from ambulance personnel at the scene who continued en route to hospital where he was transported for further treatment.”

The injured man was taken to a major trauma centre, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. He is now said to be in a “serious but stable condition”.

A witness who contacted BirminghamLive but asked not to be named said: “This happened in the car park following an event in the pub with a DJ in the beer garden. It was overcrowded and chaotic. They were shaken as were the customers. The Lyttleton Arms pub was approached but declined to comment.

West Mercia Force is appealing for further witnesses to come forward. In a statement, a spokeswoman for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the Lyttleton Arms pub in Hagley on Thursday night (May 9).
