Premier League clubs are now free to do business after the summer transfer window opened yesterday, with deals set to close against the backdrop of Euro 2024. Manchester United moved unusually early in their pursuit of a top target, while Liverpool and Chelsea are among the other clubs preparing to be active.

United have made their intentions known to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite after he reportedly agreed personal terms.

The Red Devils’ £43m opening bid was rejected but they are expected to come back with an improved offer to try and find a compromise below Everton’s £70m valuation.

However, Erik ten Hag could be at risk of losing one of his most prized assets amid reported interest in heavyweight Kobbie Mainoo.

Liverpool are set to back Arne Slot in his first transfer window at Anfield and are said to be eyeing a Chelsea star.

Chelsea themselves have already completed a summer deal and remain active along with the rest of the Premier League.

Tottenham have claimed to sign Eberechi Eze

Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to pay the £60million it would take to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze.

Former Spurs defender Alan Hutton has hailed Eze and believes Daniel Levy would have no qualms about making him a summer signing.

“He comes out and plays with a smile on his face, plays with a lot of freedom and has so much quality in attack,” explained Hutton.

“He can score goals, he can assist, those are the kind of guys you need and he has been rewarded for his good form by being picked for the England squad.

“I think he could be a bright star, so £60m is fair. You look at some of the prices that are being set now for players that aren’t as good, so I can understand that.

“If it’s going to be available for that price, I think Levy will spend it.”
