Diogo Jota jeered after clash with Cristiano Ronaldo as pitch invader attacked by Premier League star

Diogo Jota and Portugal saw their Euro 2024 preparations disrupted as fans stormed the pitch at an open training session.

Roberto Martinez’s side, who are one of the favorites to win the European Championship in Germany this summer, will not be in action until Tuesday night when they face the Czech Republic in Leipzig.

Ahead of the opening clash, fans were invited to watch the train at the base of their tour in Westphalia. A total of 6,000 free tickets were given away before the session, although 8,000 fans turned up to attend.

But it descended into chaos as a number of supporters, said to be around 12, sprinted onto the pitch and were booed by onlookers, with Cristiano Ronaldo inevitably the player who tried hardest to approach

Security personnel sprinted after the trespassers and tried to remove them, some evading the effort. Ronaldo posed for a selfie with a pitch invader before being escorted off. The attacker would then ask for calm.
