The Leamington Distillery, which offers three tasting experiences, wins international awards

A Warwickshire distiller offering three types of in-person experiences has been awarded a triple international success for its rum, gin and vodka ranges. Leamington Spa-based Warwickshire Gin Company has won bronze and gold awards at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.

It won the top prize for Vodka Kingmaker and Bronze for its signature gin and honey rum edition ‘Sting Like a Bee’. This comes after previously winning Silver in 2021 for Pelota Dry and King Maker Gins and Bronze in 2022 for Philosopher’s Daughter Gin and Pugilist Spice Blended Rum.

The website states that the drinks are distilled using a small batch method using a traditional copper still, with the collection of drinks born from a “desire to capture a moment in history”, developing flavors to represent the unique story of the county and bringing the range of manual preparations. artisan flavors for life.

In addition, the company also hosts gin tasting experiences from Thursday to Sunday, Gin and Afternoon Tea at weekends and Cocktails at the Distillery on Friday and Saturday evenings. The gin tasting experience lasts 90 minutes and includes a full distillery experience, three complimentary drinks, seven tastings of gins, rums and vodkas and a presentation on the inspiration behind them.

Afternoon Gin & Tea lasts two hours and customers can enjoy a new twist on the traditional afternoon tea with a focus on gin. A free drink of Leamington on Parade free dry gin is served, paired with Aromatic Tonic and fresh berries, alongside some gins to try and a selection of delicious sandwiches, scones and desserts.

On the other hand, the cocktail experience is ideal for those who want to try the gins, taste delicious cocktails and enjoy an evening with friends. You will be able to enjoy three cocktails of your choice from the menu, you will have the opportunity to try new gins and learn more about the distillery.

Speaking about its international wins, founder David Blick, who set up the distillery in 2018, said: “I am so delighted that our spirits have been recognized as being of such high quality, which we strive to ensure we produce premium quality spirits.

“To also win a Gold is just incredible, we’ve had great feedback on our vodka since launch and the Martinis we make on our cocktail nights are firm favourites.

“Winning awards gives new customers the comfort that they are buying a high quality spirit. We hope this will give more bars and restaurants the excuse they need to stock locally produced gins, award-winning rums and our GOLD Kingmaker Vodka.”

Kingmaker Vodka, named alongside Kingmaker Gin after Richard Neville the 16th Earl of Warwick, won high praise from the judges for its “delicious sweet notes interwoven with a rich yeasty texture”.

Leamington on Parade, the company’s first gin concept to launch business, is inspired by the true story of circus elephant trainer Sam Lockhart in the 1880s, and The Sting Like A Bee Honey Edition Rum is the latest addition to the collection alongside by Pugilist Ghost. Edition White Rum, inspired by local boxing legend Randolph Turpin.
