Dunelm shoppers praise ‘gorgeous’ machine-washable carpet

If you want to spruce up your living room or bedroom, adding a rug can give the space new life. A rug can not only add texture and warmth, but can also be an interesting focal point.

Dunelm has launched a new machine washable carpet that is attracting a lot of attention from buyers. Made from a polypropylene blend material, the Fletcher rug comes in three neutral shades including olive, cream and natural (beige).

Prices start at £35 for the smallest size – 80cm – 160cm – and go up to £145 for the largest option, which is 200cm – 320cm. The rug has a subtle striped design all over.

To wash the rug, simply put it on a gentle cycle at 30 degrees, then lay it flat and let it air dry. Dunelm recommends small and medium sizes (up to 120 x 170) fit most washing machines between 8 – 10 kg.

For larger sizes, the retailer says a laundry service may be required. Fletcher Carpet has 65 customer reviews, of which 46 have five-star ratings.

In the review section, one buyer said: “Simply gorgeous. Love the softness and gorgeous quality of this rug.

“My choice of color definitely brightened up my living room, bringing a sense of clean calm around me. Everyone loves her so much too.

A second buyer added: “Good quality carpet, hard wearing! I bought two of these to go in my kitchen which gets a lot of footsteps from people and dogs coming in and out of the garden. I’ve had them for a few months now and they hold up well to constant use.

“They vacuum easily. Most importantly for me, they look good in my room! The only negative is that they slip, need to be gripped under the rug.”

And a third said: “Absolutely perfect. And great price. Glad I purchased this rug instead of going elsewhere.”

However, one customer was disappointed as he said the rug was folding at the edges. They wrote: “Nice looking rug but thin and wraps at the ends without much tread. I tried taping the ends down with the carpet clips with no success.”

Another customer had a similar problem, writing: “The rug itself looks great, but this is marred by the uneven finish. It does not sit upright when seated, as another review also mentioned.

“This is not something you would expect for the price point.” Dunelm currently has up to 50% off its homewares.

This Parker rug is currently priced from £13.30 to £229, reduced from £19 to £229. It is available in seven colors including green, rust, blue, ocher, monochrome, natural and multi-color options.

Elsewhere, Amazon also has a range of machine-washable rugs, including this Persian-style HOSHOME option. Prices start from £21.24 for the smallest size (60cm x 110cm) to £80.99 for the largest size (160cm x 230cm).

The carpet can be washed in cold water, using a weak detergent. According to the instructions, it can be air dried, hung to dry or put in a tumble dryer.
