Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin Name is trademarked in India

Along with the Guerrilla 450, Royal Enfield is also working on the Classic 650, which is expected to be launched by the end of the year in India. The company has registered the name “Classic 650 Twin”, which will be 5^th the motorcycle from RE will feature the 650cc parallel twin engine after the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650.

The Classic 650 is expected to have a similar design seen on the Classic 350, but of course with a bigger engine and a few tweaks here and there. The 2-into-2 exhaust system is seen on a test model, while the peashooter exhausts go well with the overall design. Expect the 648cc air/oil/cooled parallel twin to produce the same power as the other bikes at 47PS and 52Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The test mules seen earlier have the usual telescopic fork and dual shocks, twin bridge instrument console and silver finish on the engine. The Classic 650 Twin will get dual-channel ABS as standard and we can expect it to get the same LED headlight as the other 650cc RE models.

The Classic 650 Twin is probably positioned below the Interceptor 650 and should be Royal Enfield’s most affordable 650. Expect prices for the Classic 650 Twin to start from around Rs. 3 lakh ex-showroom.
