Emmerdale and Coronation Street have gone off air in the ITV shake-up

Soap fans are set to be disappointed as Emmerdale and Coronation Street have been pulled from the air to host UEFA Euro 2024 Live. The ITV soap operas were off air on Friday night after the Germany v Scotland game – and it looks like this is just the start of a period of scheduling turmoil.

With the football tournament running until July, soap buffs may find their viewing plans disrupted. Further complications arise with the upcoming general election, which will require further changes to existing programs.

EastEnders is also not immune to scheduling chaos, with Wimbledon set to disrupt shows, making it a challenging summer for fans of the soap, the Express reports.

Emmerdale typically airs half-hour episodes throughout the week, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. Coronation Street, meanwhile, usually airs for an hour at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

While ITV have yet to officially comment on the schedule change, TV guide indicates that Coronation Street will be shown next Tuesday (June 17), having also been pulled from the Monday night schedule.

The same goes for Emmerdale, which will return for an hour-long episode on June 18.
