People will get free £500 cash payments if they have ‘less than £6,000 in their bank account’

Thousands of people can get a free £500 cash payment straight into their accounts to help with the cost of living. The Brent Residents’ Support Fund (RSF) has been set up to help struggling locals after Government and Conservative Party funding to help with the cost of living.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt launched the expanded scheme earlier this year and launched new funds. Locals who are over 18 and have less than £6,000 in the bank can apply, Brent Council has confirmed, as financial pressures continue nationwide.

You can apply if you’re a Brent resident, aged over 18, have less than £6,000 in the bank and need help paying your food and utility bills. The Resident Support Fund can cover major household expenses such as food and utility bills and Council Tax arrears.

It can also cover rent arrears if you don’t already get Housing Benefit or Universal Credit (if you already get Housing Benefit or Universal Credit, you should claim a discretionary housing payment). It can also cover white goods if you’ve moved into a new, unfurnished, rented property.

There will be a white goods support limit of £400. It may also cover counseling and mental health services or access to the internet, a laptop, or both. (You’ll need to apply for this using the Resident Support Fund’s digital form), the charity says.

It can also cover energy and water essentials including soap, sanitary products, winter clothing, blankets, boiler servicing/repairs and can also cover paying off debt eg credit card loans (you will be referred to our credit union for an interest-free application). loan).

To apply for the Resident Support Fund you will need evidence of your latest bank statements for all your bank accounts (please include your partner’s bank statements if you have a partner) and your latest utility bill, if appropriate.
