British tourists are turning their backs on Spain, with many canceling trips and calling for a boycott of the popular EU destination amid escalating anti-tourist sentiment. The reaction was particularly intense in the Balearic and Canary Islands, where protests intensified.

One disgruntled Briton took to Facebook to comment: “Spaniards in particular are quick to take holiday money.” Echoing the sentiment, another said: “All UK travel agents should cancel holidays to Spain, Mallorca and Tenerife due to unfriendly actions against their customers and possible court cases.”

Meanwhile, another person recommended an alternative destination: “Go to Turkey, it’s very hot in August…cheap to eat and drink and very good value, we’ve been several times and we haven’t never felt bad, the locals are friendly to you”. reports Birmingham Live.

Sharing a positive experience, one commenter recounted: “I went out for a meal one night and after I finished I got a coffee and asked for a Brandy with it and they didn’t have Brandy and they sent someone over and it came back. with a bottle of cognac and gave us a glass each on the house. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Another traveller, undeterred by the protests, said: “We are going to Tenerife next Saturday and will spend our money locally. We have no control over wages, housing or the construction of hotels and accommodation. Ask locals who have either sold or rented their homes. “”.

“The Spanish economy will see a real drop in revenue if it disrupts its main source of tourism,” one person commented.

“Apparently some people like to bite the hands that feed them,” agreed another.
