Chelsea sent a transfer message to Leeds United as an interesting decision made

Leeds United and Chelsea are likely to be in regular contact this summer, with the Blues linked with Whites winger Crysencio Summerville. This may not be the only deal the two sides are putting together, with Daniel Farke a fan of a rising star in the Blues ranks.

Leeds have been linked with young defender Alfie Gilchrist and have informed Chelsea of their desire to secure a deal to bring the 20-year-old to Elland Road. No formal approach has been made and Leeds are not believed to have spoken to the player’s representatives, but both sides are aware of the interest.

Now our sister site Football.London have reported that the Blues are ready to make Gilchrist available on loan next season to allow the player to gain the necessary experience. The prospect of a move to promotion-chasing Leeds would delight Chelsea, who would charge a loan fee and could also see Gilchrist develop under the Elland Road spotlight.

Chelsea will only listen to loan offers for Gilchrist, but that will suit Leeds, who are set to use the loan market this summer to strengthen their squad for another push for promotion to the Premier League. Having come through Chelsea’s academy, Gilchrist is seen as a potential star at Chelsea and has just enjoyed a breakthrough season, being used by Mauricio Pochettino last campaign, mainly coming off the bench to impress.
